Today author and illustrator, Ryan Tubridy and P.J. Lynch, have officially kicked off the book tour for their joint project, Patrick and the President, with a mid-day book signing at Eason’s O’Connell Street and later the Official Launch up the top of Grafton Street at Dubray Books at 6:30pm.
The children’s picture book, which imagines a few days in a young Wexford boy’s life during President John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s 1963 visit, is the first collaboration for Tubridy and Lynch.
Later this week, the TV host together with the Laureate nOg will travel to the U.S. for a series of appearances in New York City and Boston:
- Saturday, March 4th – Books of Wonder, NYC at 6pm
- Sunday, March 5th – Irish Arts Center, NYC at 3pm
- Monday, March 6th – JFK Library, Boston, at 6pm (scroll down on the page for details)
The Books of Wonder stop in NYC makes perfect sense. If you’ve ever seen You’ve Got Mail, the fictitious children’s book shop which features so largely in the Nora Ephron romcom was, in fact, inspired by the real life West 18th street gem. The last time I happened to watch the film, here’s what I spotted over Meg Ryan’s shoulder:
Yes, it’s a copy of When Jessie Came Across the Sea, by Amy Hest and P.J. Lynch.
While Tubridy and Lynch are in Boston on Monday, March 6th, before their evening event at the JFK Library, they will be making several school visits around the city.
Later in March, back home in Dublin, the pair will meet up for an event at the Pavilion Theater in Dun Laoghaire.
More about the book itself later…
