Irish writers on NYPL Women’s Day authors list

As a tie-in to the International Women’s Day, the New York Public Library has published its list of 365 Books by Women Authors to celebrate the day throughout the year.

The list is a collection of NYPL staff contributions.  In addition to American writers, the list includes authors from Pakistan, Chile, Russia, Nigeria, India, New Zealand, among others, and, as you would expect, Ireland.  (Though not as many books as I might have expected.)

The NYPL has included Sara Baume’s Spill Simmer Falter Wither, Eimear McBride’s A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing, and Irish-American author Aoibheann Sweeney’s Among Other Things, I’ve Taken Up Smoking.

  1. Surprised to see that you haven’t included the Irish writer Christine Dwyer Hickey for The Cold Eye of Heaven which is on the NYPL 365 Women Writers list.
